My Top 13 Famous Monster Covers of All Time!

Famous Monsters has been around much longer than I have. Way before I was born they had already established themselves as *the* magazine for horror fans in the USA, (also didn't hurt that they were the first). Since 1958 the magazine has seen it's fair share of ups-and-downs, law suits and rights issues, but as of 2010 they are back again and going strong. I have since amassed quite a collection of back issues and am a subscriber to the newest incarnation as well, so I have culled my archives to present what I feel are the Top 13 best covers ever to grace this historic mag! Enjoy!

Fright Rags Special Edition CANCELED!

It appears that horror shirt gurus Fright Rags will be minus one of the two shirts (and what seems to have been the fan preferred design) they had planned to offer for their special edition Evil Dead release coming next week. Reason given is because Bruce Campbell did not sign off on the final design, so they were left with no choice except to cancel plans and rearranged what is left of their special edition. Naturally this caused a fair amount of backlash from the fans directed at both Campbell and Fright Rags.

For the record, I won't be picking this one up...

Want to Fund Some Indie Horror?

The DIY movie-dream is now a reality thanks to donation-based funding companies such as Kickstarter and the increasingly popular Indiegogo. Everyone from game designers, authors and directors are using these tools as a direct link to their core audience to fund their next project.

Dawn of Dracula is a Hammer-esque comedy horror from the lovely crew and stars of Iowa's Midnite Mausoleum. These guys are looking for $5,000 in fan funding, with no minimum donation amount. You can help out, view a teaser trailer, and see all of the perks for your contribution at their Indiegogo Page.

Next up is Tales from Morningview Cemetery, an anthology film being produced in Atlanta, GA. It also features the horror host with the most Professor Morte in a "cryptkeeper" role, tying all of the shorts together. This project is looking for $7,500 in funds and time is running out! To view a special video from Morte, donate or check out perks click here!

Welcome to October

Are you working on a spooky movie watch list yet? Need some inspiration? Check out my picks for 2012...

Keep in mind, these are not necessarily my "favorites" - just movies that I have been planning to give another watch.

This will be supplemented by Alice Cooper concerts, spooky cartoons, and some of the best horror shows on TV.

I'm very pleased to be taking part in this year's Countdown to Halloween.
